Cindy Truong, Class II
salvete omnes,
Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year edition of The Brooklyn Latineer! It is my honor to be writing as Latineer’s editor-in-chief this school year.
As we return to in-person school after an unprecedented year and a half of remote learning, it’s more important than ever to stay connected with the TBLS community while we collectively strive to create a safe, positive, and productive school year. And I hope that our newspaper provides a space and platform for that to happen. Ever since The Brooklyn Latineer was founded, it has been a platform for TBLS discipuli. Every article published strives to represent the diversity of ideas, beliefs, and cultures that exist within our community—these principles will continue to guide us this year.
The transition back to in-person school this year has looked and felt different for everyone. The Brooklyn Latineer aims to be there every step of the way, through the highs and the lows, as we document the our return to "normalcy” at TBLS after quarantine. Through coverage of news on a global and local scale, school events, and entertainment, I hope that our work from the perspectives of fellow discipuli promotes a well-informed and connected school community.
This year, we have also decided to venture into broadcast journalism—a TV-style production that will be a monthly part of Extended Homeroom. Our journalists will be interviewing, videotaping, and engaging with discipuli and magistri around the school. We hope that this will increase school involvement with the club and the paper. Let us know if you want to be a part of this new initiative. Our club meets in room 101 every Tuesday at 3 pm, or via Zoom at 5pm.
Additionally, stay tuned for our upcoming newsletters. I’m looking forward to a great school year with you all!
Thank You,
Cindy Truong
