Desmond recommends “Dying of the Light” by George R.R. Martin. This science fiction novel follows Dirk t'Larien, who receives a mysterious call from his former lover, Gwen Delvano.
Desmond also recommends “Planet of Exile” by Ursula K. Le Guin. The science fiction novel follows a human colony abandoned on an alien planet.
Darin recommends the Legend series by Marie Lu. The dystopian series is set in North America where two countries are at war- the Colonies and the Republic. Day is a teenage boy who happens to be the Republic’s most wanted criminal.
Mr. Bautista Ramil recommends “The Hidden Girl and Other Stories by Ken Liu.” One of several speculative fiction short stories, the performance of a circus saves a man in China during the Tang dynasty from his assassin.
Alexandra recommends “Amor se escribe sin hache” by Enrique Jardiel Poncela. This Spanish novel is an anti-romance novel romance novel that employs absurdist humor in order to critique various facets of society.
Christina recommends “Why I'm No Longer Talking to White People About Race” by Reni Eddo-Lodge. The book takes a look into the often and easily dismissed problem of race in Britain and is for the activist inside all of us.
Christina also recommends “Falling Into Place” by Amy Zhang. The book follows a young teenage girl who crashed her car and the story is told from an unexpected narrator. (Trigger Warning: mentions of suicide, mental illness, bullying.)
Yewon recommends the Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi. The young adult dystopian thriller is told by Juliette, who has the power of a lethal touch.

Christina recommends One Day at a Time. This comedy-drama sitcom follows a Cuban-American family through the ups and downs of life. It touches upon a variety of topics such as racism, immigration, coming out, mental illness, gun control, and many more. A must-watch!
Christina also recommends The Good Place. Eleanor Shellstrop finds herself in the Good Place during the afterlife, only to realize she’s there by mistake.
Desmond recommends Unorthodox. The show follows a Hasidic Jewish woman who flees from her arranged marriage in Brooklyn to begin a new life.
